Sharjeel Khan and Fakhar Zaman steer Pakistan ‘A’ to a convincing victory

Pakistan ‘A’ registered a convincing win by eight wickets chasing a target of 200 runs against Sri Lanka ‘A’ in England in the first game of the triangular series between Pakistan ‘A’, Sri Lanka ‘A’ and England Lions.

Babar Azam, who is leading the troops in this series, won the toss and elected to field first at Cheltenham.

Pakistan ‘A’ bowlers didn’t let Sri Lankan batsmen to rule in the middle and kept getting wickets on continuous intervals. Pakistan’s emerging pacer, Mohammad Abbas dented Sri Lanka ‘A’ early with two wickets of openers at a total of 49 runs.

The left-arm spinner of Peshawar Zalmi, Mohammad Asghar was the star performer for Pakistan ‘A’ with the ball. He cracked four wickets in his ten overs leaking just 41 runs.

Whereas, Mohammad Abbas took three wickets, but, he was a touch expansive with the figures of 50 runs in 7 overs. The experienced allrounder, Bilawal Bhatti hunted two batsmen, while Mohammad Nawaz got one wicket in the proceeding.

Angelo Parera remained the highest scorer for Sri Lanka with 35 runs off 58 deliveries.

Sharjeel Khan and Pakistan Cup hero, Fakhar Zaman dominated Sri Lankan bowling with complete authority as they put 155 runs for the opening partnership.

Sharjeel Khan, the aggressor in the partnership was the first to fall at an individual score of 90 off 94 deliveries, his innings comprised of twelve 4’s and four 6’s.

On the other hand, Fakhar lost his way after scoring 74 runs on 77 balls with the help of seven 4’s and three 6’s.

Umar Siddiq and Abdul Rehman Muzammil provided the finishing touch, the two scored 20 and 11 runs respectively. Pakistan chased down the target in just 33.5 overs.

Pakistan ‘A’ will face England lions on July 19 at the same venue.
