Rohit Sharma ruled out of ODIs, Tests in New Zealand due to calf injury


Indian limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI and Test series against New Zealand after sustaining a calf injury during the fifth T20I in Mount Maunganui.

According to sources, an official Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that he is out of the tour as India are set to play three ODIs from Wednesday and two Tests after that.

Rohit retired hurt after scoring 60 off 41 balls and he was also the captain as Virat Kohli took rest for the final T20I. KL Rahul took responsibility on the field in place of him as a standing captain.

Recently, Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya also got ruled out of the Test series due to back injury. Shikhar Dhawan is also out due to shoulder injury after getting hurt during the third ODI against Australia in India.

It must be noted India recently whitewashed New Zealand by 5-0 in the T20I series.
