KARACHI: Karachi Kings’ express pacer, Usman Khan Shinwari revealed Shoaib Akhtar as his role model during an exclusive interview with ARY Sports.
“I have idolized Shoaib Akhtar as far as pace is concerned,” revealed Usman Shinwari while talking to ARY Sports.
Shinwari suffered a back injury during Pakistan’s series against Sri Lanka in November last year and he was expected to stay out of the game for at least six months. However, it seems like the left-arm pacer has gained fitness and is ready to dazzle for the Kings.
“I am working extremely hard on my fitness, I am trying to improve it as much as possible, whenever captain and coach will ask me to step up, I will play,” he told.
The 23-year old is excited to play under the captaincy of Imad Wasim as he has played alongside him in the national side.
“I have played against and with him before, so playing under Imad Wasim’s captaincy will not be a problem. He has an aggressive mindset as a captain, so it will be fun,” he added.
Like any other youngster of Karachi Kings, Shinwari is also looking forward to playing with the legendary Shahid Afridi, he feels lucky that the former all-rounder will be on his side.
“Shahid Bhai is a legend, his presence in the team increases pressure on the opponents by 30% to 40%, he is the king of T20s, so we are fortunate in this regard that we have him on our side,” he stated.
The young fast bowler hailed PCB’s decision of holding the final of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Karachi and feels if Karachi Kings manages to reach the final, it will be huge for the local fans.
“It is a good news for Karachiites that the final of PSL is scheduled in their city,” he said. “It will be icing on the cake if Karachi Kings qualifies for the final, it will get even better for them,” he concluded.
