Pakistan umpire Aleem Dar who is a member of the ICC Eliot panel has been threatened by the Indian activist group Shiv Sena to leave India with immediate effectand go back home.
Dar has been doing umpiring duties in India and was one of the two on filed umpire during yesterday’s ODI match between India and South Africa at Rajkot where India lost by 18 runs. It is unfortunate to see this Indian extremist group Shiv Sena to react in such a way and hinder the process of cricket. Earlier Shiv Sena group stormed into the BCCI headquarters to compel the the board officials to cancel their meeting and send Pakistan Chairman Shaharyar Khan back home.
As things proceed it is highly unlikely that the Pakistan-India series will take place because the Indians are just not reacting in a professional manner which is not good for the game in general. It will just hamper the already controversial image of the Indian board and government as the whole world is watching.
Aleem Dar has to officiate in the fifth ODI versus South Africa which is scheduled to take place in Mumbai on the 25th of October. The Indian cricket board should provide extra security to Aleem Dar so that he is safe enough while present in India.
