Shoaib Malik cracked a brilliant knock of 71 runs to set a platform for Karachi Region Whites to beat Peshawar by 21 runs in their third match of the National T20 Cup at Multan Stadium on Saturday.
Arshad Iqbal did the remaining work with the bowl for Karachi as he took three wickets to restrict the opponents to win their second match of the tournament and gaining the top position on the leaderboard.
Karachi while batting first posted a good 161 runs total on the scoreboard with likes of Shoaib Malik and Khurram Manzoor.
Malik with six boundaries and two sixes made a worthy contribution in Karachi’s total while Manzoor smashed 53 runs including seven boundaries.
Mohammad Junaid, Imran Khan Sr and Imran Khan Jr took one wicket each for Peshawar.
In reply, Peshawar were bowled out on 140 runs. Fawad Khan (42) was the highest run-getter for them. Raees Ahmed scored 31 runs with the help of four boundaries.
Akbar-ur-Rehman (2-13) and Raza Hasan (1-19) were the other bowlers who took wickets for Karachi.
In another match of the day, FATA beat Multan by five wickets to win their first match in the tournament.
FATA chased the target of 137 runs with four balls to spare. Samiullah Jr made 58 runs to make the chase easy for his team.
Karachi Regions White are leading the points table after the third round with four points and a better Run Rate.
Lahore Regions white, Multan and Rawalpindi are placed on the second, third and fourth position respectively.
FATA grabbed the fifth position after winning their first match with good run rate while Islamabad, Peshawar, and Lahore Regions Blue are on the sixth, seventh and eighth position respectively.
