Sindh’s head coach Azam Khan has announced 16-member first XI squad for the upcoming National T20 Cup, penciled in from October 13 to 24 in Faisalabad.
Sarfraz Ahmed will be leading the squad while the other players include Asad Shafiq, Khurram Manzoor, Fawad Alam, Anwar Ali, Saad Ali, Sohail Khan, Saud Shakeel, Waleed Ahmed, Kashif Bhatti, Abid Ali, Mir Hamza, Ahsan Ali, M.Hasnain, Umair bin Yousuf and Mirza Ahsan.
While talking to the media after announcing the team, the team’s head coach said that the best players were finalized from the 35 players’ list provided by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s independent committee.
“These are the best possible players we have got and I hope they will perform well in the upcoming mega event,” he said.
To a query about ignoring first-class performer Tabish Khan and selecting out-of-form Anwar Ali and Mir Hamza, he highlighted that Tabish is a good bowler in the longer format of the game.
“In T20 cricket, you need a complete package. Anwar can bat for us too and as far as Hamza is concerned so he is bowling with good pace and can be lethal for us in the shorter format of the game,” he concluded.
It must be noted here that Anwar has not played any form of cricket since March. He had gone through a successful heel surgery in April this year.
Six regions including Southern Punjab, Central Punjab, Sindh, Northern, Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will participate in the event.
