Sindh loses to Northern despite Saud Shakeel’s fighting knock

Karachi: Saud Shakeel’s 174-runs knock went in vain as skipper Nauman Ali steered Northern to convincing 128-runs victory against Sindh by picking up 10-wicket haul.

Nauman once again proved his mettle and retained the top spot among highest wicket-takers with 25 wickets after three rounds of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy being completed.

Saud tried hard to take his team over the victory line but Northern’s bowler held him tight and he went off after scoring 174 off 296 balls with the help of 27 boundaries. Sindh were bowled out for 294-10.

Earlier, Sarmad Bhatti and Hammad Azam propelled Northern to add 311 runs in their 111-runs lead. Sarmad scored 108 off 226 balls laced with 13 boundaries and two sixes while Hammad made 100 off 120 balls with the help of 13 boundaries and three sixes.

Mohammad Asghar from Sindh bagged highest two wickets for his team.

At National Stadium, Central Punjab (CP)’s skipper Azhar Ali played defensive cricket as they held their third match draw against Baluchistan. Test skipper Azhar scored 95 off 184 balls in 269-runs chase but still, CP couldn’t manage to win their first match with just 44 runs short. Mohammad Saad supported the skipper well with his 47-runs knock.

Baluchistan were bowled out for 213 runs in their second inning after gaining a lead of 55 runs. Ali Waqas scored the highest 39 runs off 61 balls. Ahmed Safi took four wickets for CP.
