Sindh beat Baluchistan by five wickets to mark second consecutive win in National T20 second XI tournament at National Stadium Karachi (NSK) on Monday.
Mohammad Waqas, a right-handed batsman fro Hyderabad, scored 47 runs off just 26 balls to support Sindh’s middle-order batting while chasing.
“When I went in, we were in a winning position. I was being asked to stay firm at the crease till the end and I am happy that I executed that plan well,” said Waqas in a post-match conference.
Openers Jaahid Ali (36) and Ammad Alam (25) didn’t provide a strong start after Sindh was set to chase 170 runs. They both scored just 35 runs for the first wicket.
Waqas supported his team at a crucial stage as he struck four boundaries and three sixes during his stay at the crease. Danish Aziz, in the end, played a cameo of 27 runs off 10 balls to finish the game for Sindh on a winning note.
Jalat Khan bagged two wickets for Baluchistan.
Earlier, Baluchistan posted 169 runs on the scoreboard with Azeem Ghumman scoring 58 runs off 48 balls, hitting six boundaries. Jalat Khan performed with the bat too as he smoked 45 runs off 22 deliveries.
Pacer Ghulam Mudassar and off-spinner Hassan Khan bagged two wickets each.
In the first match of day 2 at NSK, ton-up Zeeshan Ashraf took Southern Punjab over the victory line. The opening batsman stood like a wall in front Northern while chasing and struck 127 runs off 63 balls. His inning includes 11 boundaries and nine sixes.
While batting first, Northern scored 190-6 in 20 overs. Nauman Ali shined for them with 67 runs laced with wight boundaries and three sixes. Zeeshan Malik scored 35 runs.
Mohammad Irfan Junior bagged two wickets for Southern Punjab.
In reply, Zeeshan single-handedly put pressure on the opponents. Later in the inning, Mohammad Mohsin partnered with him well and scored 43 runs.
Salman Irshad, Shahzad Azam, and Nauman Ali took a wicket each.
