Sindh, Punjab win matches in National Tray Hockey Championship


Lahore: Sindh beat Gilgit-Baltistan while Punjab defeated Baluchistan in their respective matches on day four of the National Tray Hockey Championships here at National Hockey Stadium. 

In first contest of the day, Sindh walked over Gilgit-Baltistan by the lead of 9-1. Arslan Haider netted four goals while Hammad Ayyaz scored two goals. Adnan, Sultan Mehmood Arbaz struck a goal each.

Punjab took 5-1 lead over Baluchistan and finished the match on a winning note. Zain Ijaz smashed four goals while Hanan Shahid scored once. Asfand (Sr) was the lone goal scorer from Baluchistan.

In another match, Kyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) held a draw 2-2 after a thrilling contest. Mohammad Umer Shafqat & Sufiyan were the goal scorer from HEC while KP’s Usman & Roman Taimor scored a goal each for their team.

Tomorrow, Baluchistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Sindh and HEC will lock horns in double-header.
