Skipper Javeria guides PCB Dynamites to a title win


Javeria Khan (62) played captain’s knock to set a platform for PCB Dynamites to beat PCB Blasters by 12 runs to win the Triangular One Day Women’s Cricket Championship at State Bank Ground, Karachi on Wednesday.

Saba Nazir took three wickets to help PCB Dynamites restrict opponent while chasing 255 runs and win the coveted trophy.

PCB Dynamites while batting first posted 254 runs for the loss of six wickets in respective 50 overs. Sidra Khan supported her captain well by scoring 61 runs laced with six boundaries.

Ramin Shamim and Aliya Riaz shared two wickets apiece for PCB Blasters.

In reply, PCB Blasters managed to get 242 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Aliya Riaz, who named man-of-the-tournament, smashed 80 runs including seven boundaries and a six but couldn’t take her team over the victory line.

Javeria Rauf also made healthy contribution to the team’s total by scoring 66 runs spread over five boundaries and a six.

Saba Nazir hold the command of Dynamite’s bowling as he finished with the figures of 3-35 followed by Nashra Sandhu who took two scalps conceding 35 runs.

Former test cricketer Mohsin Hasan Khan was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and distributed prizes among the winners.

Captain of PCB Dynamites Javeria received winning cash prize of Rs 400,000 while PCB Blasters pocketed runners-up cash prize of Rs 200,000.

Aliya Riaz with 256 runs and nine wickets in the event clinched man-of-the-tournament award and cash prize of Rs 25,000.
