PERTH: Australia’s skipper, Steve Smith and the debutante Peter Handscomb have taken the control of situation at the WACA after two quick breakthroughs from Pakistan.

Peter Handscomb had a lucky outing early in his inning as he was dismissed on duck by Junaid Khan, unfortunately for Pakistan it turned out to be a no-ball.

Later in the inning, Mohammad Nawaz, who was on the field in place of Mohammad Amir, dropped a sitter of Handscomb off Junaid’s bowling that gave him another life.

The Australian batsman was too good to miss out on those chances, he captitalised the opportunity and went on to raise 50-run partnership with his skipper.

Smith was the major scorer in the partnership.

Smith and Handscomb are still at the crease with 47 (50) and 21 (41) respectively. Australia are 118/2 in 25 overs.
