Renowned sports promoter in Karachi, Dr. Farhan Essa, honored Pakistan’s champion weightlifter Rabia Shahzad for her splendid achievement for the country.
In an event organized by Dr. Essa in Karachi, Rabia was presented with a gold medal for winning Hampshire Weightlifting Championship recently. She shined in the 49Kg category of the event.
“I feel very proud when I see kids like Rabia achieving so much for Pakistan at such a young age. I hope she continues to shine at International level in her sport,” Dr. Essa said while talking to ARY Sports.
Rabia, on the occasion, thanked everyone for their support and promised to come up more strongly in upcoming events. “I feel honor every time I get praise from people. Weightlifting is my passion and I train hard to achieve my set targets,” she told ARY Sports.
Rabia revealed that she trains on her own for every championship. “Everyone knows I train by myself. I have a small gym at my home where I used to prepare for big events,” she said.
The young athlete said that she aims to achieve more laurels for her country despite not getting any support from the government. “I haven’t got any support from the government so far. I have done everything on my own and I will keep on working hard,” she concluded.
