COLOMBO: Dhananjaya de Silva (40) Minod Bhanuka (36) led Sri Lanka to four-wickets victory over India in the second T20I to level series 1-1 with a match to go.
De Silva stood firm till the end to help the hosts chase 133 in 19.4 overs with four wickets in hand. He struck a six and boundary. Earlier, Sri Lanka kept losing nevertheless Bhanuka aimed at scoring runs. His dominant top-order inning included four boundaries.
Kuldeep Yadav bagged two wickets for India whereas Bhuvneswar Kumar, Rahul Chahar, Chetan Sakariya, and Varun Chakravarthy shared a wicket apiece.
Sent into bat first, India’s inning was supported by skipper Shikar Dhawan who scored fighting 40 runs off 42 balls despite his team losing wickets at the other end. Alongside opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad, Dhawan scored 49-runs opening partnership. Gaikwad walked off after scoring 21 with the help of a boundary.
Devdutt Padikkal contributed 29 runs with the help of a boundary and a six.
Akila Dananjaya took two wickets while Dushmantha Chameera, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Dasun Shanaka bagged a wicket each.
