After conceding a 3-0 defeat in ODI series, Sri Lanka women bounced back in Sharjah to clinch T20 series against host Pakistan 2-1 recording a convincing five-wicket win in decisive third match.
After the series drew 1-1 following Pakistan skipper Sana Mir’s stellar performance in the second match, Pakistan was looking to take another series after their exploits in ODIs. However, Sri Lanka women made a strong comeback record the win.
Pakistan batted first in the final match and put on board a modest 110-9 in allotted 20 overs. Bismah Maroof batted well for the side and scored 46 runs off 38 balls. Captain Sana Mir (20 runs) and Nida Dar (15 runs) were the only other players to reach double figures.
Udeshika Prabodhani, Inoka Ranaweera and Chathurani Gunawardene took two wickets each for Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka in their turn reached the target comfortably in 17.5 overs with five wickets in hand. The team must thank their captain Chamari Attapatu for her impressive 44-run knock early in the inning under pressure.
