The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) beat Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Killers 2-1 in the second semi-final to reach to the final contest of National Hockey Championship at Abdul Sattar Hockey Stadium, Karachi on Sunday.
SSGC was dominant in the first half of the match as they took an early lead in the match. Mubashir of the winning side struck both the goals for SSGC to make them potent on the field.
Aleem Bilal netted the ball once for the WAPDA Killers.
In the first semi-final of the event on Sunday, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) defeated WAPDA Whites by 3-1. Bilal Qadir was the top-scorer for NBP as he put the ball into the nets twice. Mohammad Atiq scored the third goal for NBP. Shajeeh Ahmed was the scorer for WAPDA Whites.
Now, NBP will face SSGC in the final match on Monday while WAPDA Whites and WAPDA Killers will play for third and fourth position.
The Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah will grace the closing ceremony of the event which saw 20 teams competing for the event.
The tournament which faced immense controversies in the start is all set to end on a strong note. The president of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar is satisfied with the performance of his team in making the event successful.
“This event is about to end with a success which is a win for the federation,” he said.
