Sultans to take on Zalmi as PSL action returns after two-days break


Multan Sultans will be in action against Peshawar Zalmi for the very first time in the history of Pakistan Super League (PSL) at Multan Cricket Stadium, their home ground.

After seven matches in the fifth edition, the action shifts to Multan and Rawalpindi from February 26th to March 2nd.

Both the teams have played two matches and have earned two points with one success and one defeat respectively.

Zalmi lost their opening fixture by 10 runs in Karachi against Karachi Kings whereas comprehensively beaten defending champions Quetta Gladiators at the same venue on February 22 by six wickets.

Multan won their first match in Lahore against Lahore Qalandars by five wickets but lost to two-time champions Islamabad United by eight wickets.

Zalmi coming into this game would have a slight edge as they are coming with a win and also the form of wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal and English batsman Liam Livingstone, who went not-out in the previous two matches.

Kamran scored his third PSL century against Gladiators will be at the top-order. Zalmi has also high hopes from Tom Banton who has not fired yet with the bat.

Sultans, on the other hand, led by left-handed opener Shan Masood in the presence of Shahid Afridi, who is still entertaining the fans by his six-hitting ability.

They have the most lethal spin bowling attack having the likes of Afridi, Imran Tahir, and Moeen Ali and the battle will also between the batters of Zalmi and Sultans’ bowlers.

It is expected that the Multan crowd will come in large numbers as the PSL encounter is happening for the very first time in Multan. The match will at 7 pm.
