Dhaka: Afridi’s captaincy boosted the Sylhet Super Stars during the Bangladesh premier League as they knocked out Barisal Bulls on 58 being the events minimum score.
According to details Shahid Afridi as a captain in his very first event steered the Sylhet super stars to victory over the Barisal Bulls by 9 wickets making it the team’s 2nd victory among the 7 matches played. Super star Chris Gayle’s presence in the team didn’t help much as the whole team collapsed at 58 in 16 overs recording a minimum score of the event. Muhammad Sami scored 16 and Lewis scored 12 runs the third biggest individual score was 8 by Chris Gayle. Ravi Bopara took 3 wickets while Afridi, Muhammad Shahid and Rohail took 2 wickets each.
In response the Super Stars achieved their target in 11.2 overs loosing a single wicket. Junaid Siddiqui at 34 and Noor ul Hassan at 24 remained at the wicket. Dilshan Munaweera was out in the first over without a score.
In the second match Rangpur Riders defeated Dhaka Dynamites by 6 wickets, they achieved the target of 136 runs in 18.2 overs loosing 4 wickets. Zahoor ul Islam remained not out at 35 runs, Darren Sammy scored 23 and Soumya Sarkar 21. Lendl Simmons also scored 18 runs Dhaka dished out 23 runs in extras. Abul Hassan took 2 wickets. Earlier Dhaka won the toss and opted to bat and scored 135 runs on 7 wickets. Nasir Hussain scored the maximum 30 runs while 3 players got run out. Arafat Sunny took 2 wickets. After this victory Rangpur team ranks second at the points table. Comilla Victorians being at the top and Barisal at the third position have equal points of 10 each.
