'Talent like you is our pride,' COAS Bajwa says to Muhammad Waseem

Pakistan’s prolific boxer, Muhammad Waseem met Chief Of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa in his office on Wednesday, where the Army Chief congratulated him on the emphatic victory.

COAS Bajwa met Waseem after his impressive win against Filipino opponent, Conrado Tanamor, within 62 seconds of the first round in Dubai on Friday night.

“Talent like you is our pride, we are here to support youngsters like you having potential and positive energy”, COAS Bajwa during the meeting.

Waseem thanked the whole nation while talking to ARY News on Wednesday and added that Pakistan Army has always supported me whenever I return after winning a fight.

“I want to thank all of you and the whole nation,” he said. “Pakistan Army has been supporting me for a while now, whenever I return after winning a fight, they receive me and appreciate me.”

He further said that it is a matter of pride for me that he has been a champion in the past and has been representing Pakistan for many years.

“Wasim Akram, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik and Shoaib Akhtar appreciated me, I felt really good, it is an honour for me the way legends are appreciating me and I am getting motivated to win even bigger titles for Pakistan in future,” he added.


The former top-ranked WBC boxer had dedicated his big win to the people of Kashmir and still condemning the brutalities of Indian forces in the valley.

“I was training in UK for the last six months, I was not really aware of what is happening in the world,” he said. “I got to know about Indian brutalities against Kashmiri people.

“I condemn it and I will donate my shorts and other things of future fights to the people of Kashmir,” he said. “We should support Kashmir and always stand united for them.”

Muhammad Waseem will fight his next bout on November 22.
