Talha Talib bags gold medal in weightlifting championship

19-year-old Pakistani weightlifter Talha Talib on Tuesday won a gold medal at the fifth International Solidarity Championships in Egypt.

Talha clinched the gold for lifting 136kg in the snatch category, and a silver for 155kg clean and jerk lift, he also claimed another silver medal for lifting 291kg overall.

In the 67kg class, Pakistan secured the second position while Egypt stood first and Saudia Arabia ranked third position.

The Gujranwala born athlete won the bronze medal earlier this year in 62-kilogram category at the Commonwealth Games in Australia, where he established a new record by lifting 132kg in the snatch.
