Karachi: Tauseef Ahmed expects to see good batting from the Pakistani side this time. He thinks Pakistani batsmen would perform better as compared to the previous tours.
Pakistan team present in England faced a bit of drawback when their practice session was put off due to rain but selector Tauseef Ahmed is very optimistic to see some good performance from the Pakistani team during the first match of the series to be played on Thursday at Lord’s.
The three day practice match against Sussex was called off due to rain on the last day but Pakistan did get a chance to bat in the first innings. In the earlier two innings of the previous match at Somerset Pakistani batsmen got a fair run enabling them to get familiar to the English conditions. Tauseef feels that Pakistan’s middle-order batting has had sufficient practice which is a healthy sign for the upcoming match at Lord’s.
While giving his comments in an interview, Tauseef said “I think the batsmen, especially the middle-order have done very well and seem confident and in form before the start of first Test.” However he admitted that the top-order batting is yet a question mark but if they put their act together at Lord’s then Pakistan will be a very formidable force for the hosts.
He further said that “Muhammad Hafeez is out of form which is a point of concern but he is an excellent batsman and carries plenty of experience. If our openers provide us a good start, the batsmen to follow can give a tough time to the English bowlers and it will be difficult to contain the Green Shirts.”
