The former captain of Pakistan hockey team Mohammad Saqlain said that all responsibles should accept the debacle of the national team in the hockey world cup.
Saqlain while talking to the media on Wednesday said that the team got failed in each department and their performance was really disappointing for the entire hockey fraternity in Pakistan.
“I must say the team was not up to the mark even in a single department, and the whole staff is responsible for such performance,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that winless Pakistan team finished their world cup campaign losing to Belgium in a crossover contest. It is for the first time in the history that Pakistan came back without winning a single match in the world cup.
Saqlain said that the team needs a permanent coaching staff for proper coaching which can help the players prepare themselves in a proper way.
“There is a big issue of coaching the team and federation should solve it as soon as possible,” he said.
Former captain thinks that the team progressed a bit during the reign of Roelant Oltmans a couple of months ago but the team followed old patterns immediately after he left.
“Roelant worked hard with the team and the performance of the team improved under his coaching,” he said.
