Tendulkar hails West Indies as ’True Champions’

Mumbai: Former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has become a supporter of West Indian cricketers. After West Indies clinched the World T20 title Tendulkar wrote on his official twitter handle hailing the West Indian cricketers as ‘True Champions’ and saying ‘WIBC should support them and address their concerns.’

The Caribbean team captain Darren Sammy after winning against England spoke about the players contract-related disputes with the West Indies cricket board (WICB). He said the lack of support from the WICB has been disappointing. Mark Nicholas called us ‘players with no brains’ but his comments brought us all together. We succeeded in playing this type of cricket in front of a passionate crowd which was really superb.

Addressing a press conference after the match he said ‘I want to thank the coaching team and Phil Simmons.’ The WI team won WT20 title for the second time by defeating England in the last over after a stunning match played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The women’s team also won the WT20 title playing against Australia bringing in two world titles for their country the same day.
