Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has thanked the Sri Lanka cricket team for visiting Pakistan and playing the final T20 international of the series in Lahore.
“We are thankful to Sri Lankan cricket team that they came to Pakistan who will play a T20i game against us,” said Sarfraz Ahmed in a video message.
Pakistan have already sealed the three-match T20 series by winning the first two contests of the series after clean-sweeping the opponents in the ODI series by 5-0.
Sri Lankan team is touring Pakistan after eight years. They were attacked by a group of terrorists in Lahore when they last toured the country in 2009, which took international cricket away from Pakistan.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) held the final of Pakistan Super League 2017 (PSL) in Lahore amid tight security that paved way for the return of international cricket in the country.
Earlier, Pakistan hosted a star-studded World XI side, which was captained by South African skipper Faf Du Plessis and featured the current Sri Lankan captain Thisara Parera in the side as well.
The wicket-keeper batsman expressed his excitement and hoped that the crowd at Gaddafi Stadium will enjoy a competitive cricket match between the two sides.
“We hope that the Pakistani crowd will support both the sides and will witness some exciting cricket tonight,” he added.
Thisara Parera is also pleased on returning to Pakistan.
“Its nice to be in Pakistan again,” said Perera, who was part of the World XI last month. “We are thankful for a warm welcome and will do our best to entertain the crowd with some good cricket.”
