The ARY Karachi team has announced its official coaching panel for the first edition of Pakistan’s premier T20 league.
The head coach of the team will be South African Mickey Arthur who played domestic cricket for South Africa for more than a decade. He took over coaching duties for the national team in May 2005. During his 5 year tenure with the national side, the team became a formidable lineup and defeated almost every team in test matches and ODIs. Under his coaching South Africa won a series in Australia as well which was a remarkable achievement and earned him world wide fame. He also served as coach of the Australian team but was not that successful. He is currently the coach of the Dhaka side in Bangladesh Premier League.
Mickey Arthur will be helped out in the coaching department by Pakistan’s former leg spinner Mushtaq Ahmed who is also Pakistan’s current spin bowling coach. Mushtaq took more than 300 international wickets for Pakistan and also holds 1407 FC wickets to his credit. He played a key role in Pakistan’s memorable victory in the 1992 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. He has served as bowling coach of the English team as well and during his span of time English spinners improved drastically.
The decision was announced by the CEO of ARY group Salman Iqbal through his official twitter account.
