The best test batsman: AB de Villiers

South African batsman AB de Villiers is back to the top of the pile in test matches as he overtakes Australian captain Steven Smith in the latest ICC test rankings.

AB scored 63 and 16 runs in the first test match against India at Mohali which meant that he jumped above Smith by just one point. He surged back to the top after a gap of 10 months but will have to put up a good show in the remaining matches of the test series in order to strengthen his position at the top because the gap between the top 7 batsmen in the rankings is just 44 points.

A fantastic century against Australia at Brisbane has helped the Blackcaps batsman Kane Williamson to reach his career best 5th spot in rankings while Indian batsman Virat Kohli has slipped down five places after a lackluster show in test matches and is now ranked 16th.
