The three-day Shandur polo festival will kick start on the 22nd of July at the world’s highest polo ground in Chitral. The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Managing Director Mushtaq Ahmed Khan confirmed the news after a meeting on Monday.
The dates for the eye-catching Shandur Polo Festival were changed to ensure that all teams participated in the tournament because it was difficult for majority of the teams to effectively prepare for the event because of the Ediul Fitr days which clashed with the original dates of the Shandur Polo festival. Th three-day festival will conclude on the 24th of July.
The event usually takes place from July 7 to 9, but this year as Eidul Fitr is likely to fall on those dates, its schedule has been changed to facilitate the teams and players.
The provincial government provide adequate funds for this tournament to the Chitral administration because of it’s international fame and due to the fact that is organized at the world’s highest polo ground.
