A historic event took place on 10th December 1992 which is a treasured moment in Pakistan’s history.

In a match played at Hobart Pakistan faced Australia which was the part of the World Series with West Indies being the third team. In this particular match Pakistan were chasing a target of 229 runs but they slipped to 129/6 and a win looked unlikely. But at this stage a 68 run stand between Rashid Latif and Asif Mujtaba took Pakistan close to victory.

The final over of the match was an eventful one as Pakistan needed 17 runs but it came down to 7 off the last ball and at this crucial juncture Asif Mujtaba smacked Steve Waugh over midwicket for a six and tied the match in emphatic fashion.

Asif Mujtaba, 56 runs off 51 balls, was rightfully declared man of the match.
