The maestro turns 38 !

Pakistan’s spin wizard Saeed Ajmal was born today in Faisalabad. A person known to have a bright smile on his face whenever he is approached by anyone on and off the field made his debut for Pakistan at a late stage during his career but at that point in time not many expected him to became such a impact bowler and a threat to all cricket playing.

As Ajmal celebrates his 38th birthday, let’s look at some of his finest moments in international cricket.

5) 24 wickets England in 2012
England team was the number one test side in 2012 and were coming on a mission to beat Pakistan in UAE. Saeed Ajmal was on top of his game as he single handedly destroyed the English lineup. He took a staggering 24 wickets during that series and completely exposed a good enough English batting side. He was the man of the series as well.

4) Indian batsmen fail miserably
In the third ODI between Pakistan and India at Feroz Shah Kotla, Ajmal bamboozled the Indian batsmen as he picked up a five wicket haul after just conceding 24 runs inside his 10 over’s. India were bowled out cheaply for 167 but unfortunately Pakistan were not able to chase that target but this amtch proved it once again why Saeed was the best bowler in the world.

3) Highest partnership for 10th wicket
Saeed Ajmal and Mohammad Amir combined to make 103 runs for the 10th wicket which is the second highest on the all time list of 10th wicket partnerships in one day internationals. Pakistan were struggling at 101/9 as the batsman failed miserably chasing a target of 212 runs against New Zealand. Although Pakistan lost this highly entertaining match but it goes on to show Ajmal’s never give up attitude towards cricket.

2) 10 wickets vs South Africa
Saeed Ajmal took 10 wickets in a match versus South Africa which was played in Cape Town. Although those wickets are not so responsive for spinners but Saeed once again proved his worth as he took 6 wickets in the first innings while taking another 4 in the first. This proved how good he was in all conditions.

1) World cup triumph
Last but not the least Saeed Ajmal played a key role in taking Pakistan to its first T20 world cup title. He took 12 wickets and was the second on the list for most wickets for Pakistan, He had a stunning economy rate of under 6 runs per over which is a significant feat keeping in mind the T20 format.

Saeed Ajmal has lost some off his effectiveness after a remodeled action and was subsequently dropped from the side but he still holds a special place in the hearts of every cricket loving person.
