Ton-up Akmal brothers safeguard Central Punjab against Sindh


Kamran Akmal (166) and Umar Akmal (122) ensured a draw for Central Punjab (CP) against Sindh in the eighth round of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at National Stadium Karachi.

Resuming at 207-2, CP lost well-set Umar and Salman Butt earlier. Butt scored 83 runs. Zafar Gohar partnered strongly with Kamran and scored 75 runs. They both scored 227 runs together as CP scored 499-9 at stumps on the last day.

For Sindh, Mohammad Umer bagged 2-87, Tabish Khan 2-137 and Anwar Ali 2-89.

On the other hand, at KRL Stadium Rawalpindi, Southern Punjab (SP) held a draw against Norther. After suffering a follow-on, Umar Siddique lifted SP with his special 107-run knock as they finished day 4 at 271-4.

Zeeshan Ashraf and Sohaib Maqsood scored 52 runs each to rescue SP.

Earlier, while chasing 463 in the first inning, SP’s batting collapsed and managed just 268 runs. Umar Siddique top scored with 57 runs.
