Asad Shafiq remained not out for 101 and helped Pakistan post 386-7 on day 1 of their second tour match against Cricket Australia XI at Perth Stadium.
It was Asad’s second consecutive century in two matches. The right-handed batsman joined the crease when Pakistan was struggling for 120-4. He settled down very quickly and partnered with Shan Masood, who played a fighting knock of 76 runs, to score 44.
Later, Babar Azam joined the middle-order batsman and the duo once again dominated with a valuable 117 runs partnership for the sixth wicket. Earlier, in the first tour match, Asad and Babar laid a solid foundation for Pakistan in the first inning by scoring 276 runs together.
Babar, who was sent down the order by the team management, scored 63 runs off 66 balls. Kashif Bhatti in the last session batted well with Asad and remained not out for 56 runs.
Lloyd Pope bagged five wickets for Australia. The 19-years-old leggie conceded 100 runs in 24 overs.
