Ton-up Imran Butt rescued Baluchistan against Northern as his 124-run knock took Baluchistan to 271-8 on Day 1 in the ninth round of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
Butt played 150 balls and struck 24 boundaries during his stay at the crease. Imran Farhat scored 32 runs for Baluchistan.
Nauman Ali and Sadaf Hussain bagged three wickets each for Northern.
At National Stadium Karachi, Zeeshan Ashraf (133) took Southern Punjab to 344-5 against home team Sindh on Day 1. The left-handed batsman powered with 17 boundaries and three sixes.
Sohaib Maqsood smashed 81 runs for his team. For Sindh, Anwar Ali took three wickets.
In another match at National Bank Ground Karachi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa posted 227-8 on the scoreboard on Day 1 against table-topper Central Punjab. Sahibzada top-scored with 91 runs on an opening day. Israrullah made 51 runs.
Zafar Gohar shined with 4-101 while Bilal Asif bagged three wickets.
