Ton-up Zeeshan leads Muzaffarabad Tigers’ comeback in KP


MUZAFFARABAD: Opener Zeeshan Ashraf scored a maiden century in Kashmir Premier League (KPL) as Muzaffarabad Tigers beat Kotli Lions by five wickets in a high-scoring contest. 

Zeeshan was on song with his powerful knock spread over 62 balls including 18 boundaries and a six. The latter helped Tigers chase the 196 in 18.3 overs, coming from a close defeat the other day.

While batting first, the Lions posted a towering total of 195-4 in 20 overs. Asif Ali smashed 67 runs laced with four boundaries and five sixes after openers Kamran Akmal and Syed Abdullah set the tone for his team.

The opening duo scored 49 runs together with Kamran scoring 27 and Abdullah adding 35 runs to the team’s total. Saif Badar remained not out for 28 off 30 with the help of a boundary.

For Tigers, Sohail Tanvir, Arshad Iqbal, Usman Ashraf and Mohammad Hafeez took a wicket each.

In reply, Tigers were on the front with their opener Zeeshan tackling the one end smoothly. Sohaib Maqsood and Sohail Akhtar made 17 runs each followed by Mohammad Wasim Jr showing his power-hitting skills, smashing three sixes in a row to take his team over the victory line.

Akif Javed bagged two while Irfanullah Shah and Khurram Shahzad shared a wicket apiece for Lions.
