Too many big names in one place can cause issues: Shahid Afridi

Karachi: Former captain Shahid Afridi thinks that too many big names in the coaching staff can cause issues and advised everyone to stay in their domain and work as things will get easy.

While speaking on his Youtube channel, Afridi praised PCB’s decision for assigning key roles to former greats.

“When there are too many big names in one place then issues occur if a team loses. So everyone should take the team along as unit,” he said.

“This is a show of cricketers and it is better if it’s run by them. All are sincere and have great individual performances when it comes to cricket or coaching,” he added.

Afridi is confident that the induction of Younis and Mushtaq in the coaching staff, which already has Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis, will benefit the green shirts in England.

“Younis is a very hard-working individual as he has performed in England. He doesn’t just give lectures but also works with the players in nets and provides them throw-down. Pakistan needed a batting coach like him,” he said.

“Mushtaq has vast experience in England. He has played a lot of county cricket and was part of the England coaching staff that won the Ashes series against Australia,” he maintained.

It must be noted here that the PCB appointed Khan as batting coach for the ‘bio-secure’ England tour. Mushtaq Ahmed was appointed as the spin bowling coach.

Pakistan team has to tour England a ‘bio-secure’ tour from July to September. The tour includes three Tests and as many T20Is.
