CENTURION: National skipper Babar Azam was satisfied with the top-order’s performance and said there was a need for improvement in the middle-order.
Speaking to reporters after winning the ODI series, Babar said Pakistan’s top-order played an important role in the victory against South Africa.
“It was good to see our openers scoring runs. Especially, Fakhar performed exceptionally well and then Imam supported him quite well,” he said.
“Yes, our middle-order wasn’t up to the mark and we need to work on that. But, overall we made our case stronger in front of them and won the series,” he added.
Babar also explained why Sarfaraz was given a chance to make ODI come back after 15 months. “We needed a batter in middle-order as we lacked consistency. We thought to utilize Sarfaraz’s experience and wanted him to play for us to strengthen our middle-order,” he highlighted.
