‘I tried to overcome overconfidence’ Fakhar Zaman

Karachi: Opening batsman Fakhar Zaman said he worked hard to get rid of overconfidence and ensured to look entirely different on the ‘bio-secure’ England tour.

Speaking to reporters via teleconference on Tuesday, the left-handed batsman acknowledged being overconfident which led him down during the last couple of months.

“I found my self overconfident and I think I didn’t realize the importance of spending time at the create,” said Zaman. “I have worked hard on myself, especially to get rid of overconfidence. I worked on mental strength to make myself much stronger than before,” he added.

The cricketer said that forced break from cricket due to the COVID-19 outbreak gave him a lot of time to focus on himself. “I got a room during this lockdown to work on myself. Earlier, I didn’t get time to address my weaknesses due to the tough international schedule,” he said.

Upon being asked, Zaman said that it is not the ideal time to change his playing technique as it will take a lot of time then to adjust with a new style. “I think I can’t change my technique at this point in time. I have scored runs with the same technique, unfortunately I wasn’t up to the mark in last few matches but the upcoming England tour is an opportunity for me and I will try my best to grab it with both hands,” he concluded.
