UCL Draw: Real Madrid to face Manchester City

The UEFA Champions League draw took place at Nyon today where it was decided that the ten time European champions Real Madrid will face the English Premier League side Manchester City whereas the finalist from couple of years ago Atletico Madrid will face the German side Bayern Munich.

Cit and Madrid’s only European cup meeting came back in season 2012/13 when the two side faced off in the group stage match. Madrid won the first leg at home by a margin of 3-2 before drawing away from home (1-1). Real Madrid are currently unbeaten in last 8 matches against English clubs and they would be looking to continue that streak against City.

Bayern’s and Atletico’s only meeting came way back in 1974 when the two team locked horns in the final of 1974 European cup. Although Bayern coach Pep Guardiola has avoided his next side in the semi final but he faces a stiff an interesting challenge in Atletico Madrid. The Spanish side can take heart from the fact that they have lost just one of their last 7 outings against German side.

Let’s take a look at some of interesting tweets that came after the draws were announced.
