Pakistan’s middle order batsman Umar Akmal asked people to compare Babar Azam with Virat Kohli instead of comparing him with Indian run machine due to their batting positions.
Umar Akmal was named Man of the Match in the game between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United for his brilliant inning of 66 runs off 42 deliveries.
During the post match press conference, the 26-year old stated that comparing him with Kohli is unjust as his Indian counterpart has batted at third position through his career.
“When people compare me to Kohli, it’s a matter of number,” he said. “Since Kohli’s debut he is batting at number three and I have been batting at number six. Let me play at number three slot and him on six, then compare me with him.”
He further said to media that Karachi Kings’ Babar Azam should be compared with Kohli as he is in great form in all three formats of the game and they also bat at the same position.
“Compare Kohli with Babar Azam, who is doing well at three,” said Akmal. “He is in great form so you can compare him with Babar and not me.”
