Middle-order batsman Umar Akmal is set to comeback home from England and miss Champions Trophy as he failed the fitness test for the second in the span of two months, told Shaharyar Khan.
Earlier, a senior PCB official told Dawn News that the coaches have suggested to send back Umar Akmal due to his poor fitness.
The 26-year old was dropped from the West Indies tour due to fitness issues and now he has once again failed to prove his fitness to the head coach of Pakistan.
Umar Akmal was also fined by the board earlier for misconduct in Pakistan Cup and was under supervision for one month along with Junaid Khan.
There are reports that the potential candidates to replace the middle-order batsman can be Umar Amin or Haris Sohail
Pakistan will kick off their Champions Trophy campaign on June 4, against the arch-rivals India.
