Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed fine of 50 percent of match fee on the middle-order batsman Umar Akmal and the left-arm pacer Junaid Khan over a misconduct in Pakistan Cup.
As per the official statement released by the board on Tuesday, the two are being put under observation for one month starting from May 18.
The incident took place during recently concluded Pakistan Cup, where the captain of Punjab, Umar Akmal told during the toss that neither him nor the management know about Junaid Khan, he has only been told that he is not going to play the game.
Junaid Khan responded the allegation with a video message just after Akmal’s comments that he has been suffering from food poisoning and the whole team management including his captain are aware of it.
The PCB took notice of this war of words and announced that the incident will be investigated, thus the penalties are announced now.
Both of them are part of Pakistan’s squad for Champions Trophy.
