Umar Akmal finished off in style after returning to his form as he played a worthy inning of 75 runs which helped Quetta Gladiators beat Peshawar Zalmi by six wickets at Dubai International Stadium.
It was Sarfraz Ahmed who supported him from the other hand smashing 32 runs off 29 balls to rescue Gladiators in a pressure situation. They both together put 62 runs on the scoreboard which handed an easy win to the men in purple.
After deciding to bowl, Sarfraz and his men showed courage as they put the opponents under pressure bringing an early breakthrough. Mohammad Irfan Jr took Andre Fletcher on a delivery which skidded into his pads.
Later on, Misbah-ul-Haq showcased his excellence scoring 49 off 39 balls which took Peshawar Zalmi to 155-4. With the help of four boundaries and two sixes, the experienced batsman took the hold of Zalmi and put pressure on the opponents who were on the charge with their bowlers.
Other successors for Zalmi were Kamran Akmal and Sohaib Maqsood who put 54 runs on the scoreboard.
Young Ghulam Mudassar got his man Sohaib Maqsood to leave Peshawar Zalmi struggling on 90-3. He played a handy knock of 26 runs with the help of a boundary and two sixes.
Just an over before, Mohammad Nawaz broke the partnership of Kamran and Maqsood keeping it tight. Kamran fell just a run short to his half-century. He struck five boundaries and three sixes to put pressure on opponents.
In reply, Gladiators started off with openers Shane Watson and Ahmed Shahzad. Shahzad went off on the first ball of the inning as Hasan Ali brought a breakthrough for his team.
Shane Watson and Rilee Rossouw made 19 runs each while the remaining work was done by Sarfraz and Umar.
Wahab Riaz took two wickets while Hasan Ali and Umaid Asif bagged a wicket each.
