Sydney: Serbian midfielder Milos Ninkovic scored twice as Sydney FC downed Perth Glory 4-1 to remain unbeaten after six games and go six points clear at the top of Australia’s A-League on Sunday.

Ninkovic was at the heart of the Sky Blues attack and laid on the final ball for the other goals by Brazilian striker Bobo and Alex Brosque.

Graham Arnold’s team are one game short of Melbourne Victory’s A-League record of seven successive wins on the way to their 2006-07 title.

Melbourne City are second after Uruguayan sharpshooter Bruno Fornaroli scored a double in a 2-1 win over the Newcastle Jets.

It took Fornaroli’s season tally to six goals in six games after netting 25 times in 29 games last season.

Brisbane Roar were held to a 1-1 draw by Adelaide United with Spaniard Sergi Guardiola equalising in the 78th minute to cancel out former Socceroo Brett Holman’s 60th-minute opener.

It was only the defending champions second point of the season and ended Roar’s run of four consecutive wins.

New German signing Max Beister scored on his debut as Melbourne Victory cashed in on Western Sydney’s defensive howlers in a 3-0 home win.

Oliver Bozanic and Jai Ingham scored the other goals as Wanderers gave away goals through defensive blunders.

Fijian Roy Krishna scored his fourth goal in three games as Wellington Phoenix downed Central Coast Mariners 2-0 in Canberra.

Krishna also laid on the other goal for Hamish Watson seven minutes after his strike.

The Phoenix overcame the loss of five players on World Cup duty to post back-to-back wins for the first time in 13 months.
