Usman Qadir- the son of Pakistan’s veteran leg-spinner, Abdul Qadir has turned back on Pakistan with a hope to play for the Australian side.
Qadir while playing a local tournament in Australia said that his target is to find a place in the Australian side for 2020 World T20 cup.
“I wish to play for Australia in 2020 World T20,” Usman stated.
He said that he did not get chance in Pakistan team that is the reason behind moving to Australia and to pursue the career there.
“One of the prime reasons to come and play here in Australia is that I did not get favour in my country,” he said.
Usman added that his father’s support is with him to play for Australia instead of his native land.
“My father told me that I am mature enough to take my life decisions and will support me throughout,” he said.
Usman was quick to add that Pakistan’s sports has been politicized and there is no importance to merit.
“Like, dislike and politics has dominated Pakistan’s sports since decades,” he added.
He also revealed that he will get the Australian nationality within two years which will help him achieve his dream more easily.
“Hopefully I will get the citizenship within two years,” he stated.
It is pertinent to mention here that Usman had played for Pakistan U-19 team and also represented the National team in U-19 World Cup 2010.
In 2016 he moved to Australia and Last summer played grade cricket in Sydney.
