Victory against Afghanistan helps Pakistan better int’l ranking


Karachi: Pakistan football team recently overpowered higher ranked opponent Afghanistan recently in Lahore by 2-1 score and now subsequently has bettered its ranking by seventeen places.

Before the match, Pakistan was sitting at lowly 188th spot in FIFA rankings but the victory in a one-off friendly match helped them jump seventeen places to jointly sit at 171 spot with archrival India.

Afghanistan fell two places and the team now sits at No 144.

Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Secretary Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi congratulated the national soccer team for improving international ranking.
