Virat Kohli loses No 1 Test ranking after India’s batting collapse at Lord’s

Indian skipper Virat Kohli dropped down to second spot in ICC Test batsmen ranking after scoring only 23 and 17 in India’s flop batting show against England in second Test which they lost by an inning and 159 runs at Lord’s on Sunday.

With losing 15 points, Kohli has to compromise with 919 points slipping back on second spot behind Australia’s Steven Smith (929 points).

Kohli had taken the top spot last week after smashing 149 and 51 in the first Test of the five-match series at Edgbaston.

It is pertinent to mention that Kohli was the only batsman after Sachin to grab the first rank in the Test batsmen rankings. Cricket’s Little Master [Sachin] achieved this milestone way back in 2011.

India have already lost two matches of the five matches Test series with three more to go. The men in blue will face the hosts in third Test –a must win game for them, on August 18.
