Wahab Riaz was dreaming about World Cup even before selection

The left-arm fast bowler, Wahab Riaz, who is named in the World Cup squad after the flop show by Pakistani bowlers in the England series, said that he was dreaming about meeting Mickey Arthur, Inzamam Ul Haq and Sarfraz Ahmed.

He said he was sometimes selected in the World Cup squad in the dreams, sometimes he was dropped, but the mega cricketing event was always on his mind.

“I had a dream a few days ago that chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq was telling me to back pack my bags and head to England as the team needs me and I am doing exactly that,” the fast-bowler said in a press conference in Lahore.

According to Riaz, every player wants to play World Cup for their respective team, moreover his late father desired his son to represent Pakistan in the global cricketing event.

“Since the day I was dropped from the team, I was working hard to make a comeback, I worked on my fitness and kept myself ready for the event,” he said. “I am under pressure, but I will try to give my best.”

The 33-year old pacer believes that Pakistan did not under-performed against England, however, the fielding was not up to the mark. He further said that if Pakistan want to make an impact in the World Cup, they will have to play aggressively.

He reminded about his performance in World Cup 2015 where he picked 16 wickets during the campaign.

Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz and Asif Ali are the new inclusions in the preliminary World Cup 2019 squad, while Faheem Ashraf, Junaid Khan and Abid Ali have been dropped from the squad.
