Wahab, Sammy join Zalmi squad despite breach of bio-bubble protocols

Karachi: Peshawar Zalmi captain Wahab Riaz and head coach Darren Sammy have joined the squad for match against Lahore Qalandars here at National Stadium despite breaching bio-bubble protocols on Friday.

The duo had to return two negative tests during the three-day quarantine period before they can re-enter the bio-secure bubble.

However, reports suggest that Zalmi’s management threatened not to leave the hotel without the two for today’s clash against Qalandars.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in its statement said that the franchise appealed to integrate the duo with the squad which was accepted by PSL’s Event Technical Committee.

“Appeal on a player and official guilty of breaching bio-secure bubble in Friday, has been accepted. The two have been allowed to integrate with the side.”

“The team has offered its regrets to the PCB on Friday’s breach and has thanked the PSL ETC for accepting their appeal. They have further assured protocols will be followed and respected as everyone wants the PSL to succeed,” he statement added.

Note, Wahab and Sammy mistakenly met team owner Javed Afridi during their practice session on Friday.
