‘I want him to recover’ Gambhir prayed for Afridi despite political difference

Karachi: Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir prayed for the speedy recovery of his former counterpart Shahid Khan Afridi who had tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.

Afridi took to Twitter to reveal that after suffering from symptoms he had gone through the COVID-19 test which came out positive. The former cricketer put himself in isolation and asked people to stay safe at home and pray for his recovery.

Where the whole cricket fraternity wrote prayers in reply to his Tweet, Gambhir also sent positive vibes despite political differences.

Nobody should be infected with this virus. I have political differences with Shahid Afridi but I want him to recover as soon as possible,” Gambhir said at Salaam Cricket 2020 as quoted by India Today.

Remember, Afridi and Gambhir had heated arguments on social media a couple of times.

It must be noted here that cricketer-turned-philanthropist Afridi, under the banner of the ‘Shahid Afridi Foundation’, was busy in ration drives in northern areas of Pakistan amid COVID-19 outbreak.
