WAPDA down Punjab to clinch National Women Hockey Championship


Sana Allahditta netted three goals to propel WAPDA beat Punjab colors 4-0 in the final to win the 30th National Women Hockey Championship at the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore on Monday.

WAPDA came up with flying colors with dominating throughout the whole match. They didn’t give any chance to the opponents to come back in the game.

The first half read 1-0 in favor of WAPDA who later in the third quarter struck three consecutive goals to put their counterparts under pressure.

Meanwhile, Army won 3-2 against HEC in the third match position.

The Air Vice Marshal Irfan Ahmed was the chief guest on the occasion. He distributed awards among the winners. DG Sports Board Punjab Nadeem Sarwar Secretary PHF Shahbaz Ahmed was also present on the auspicious occasion.

WAPDA received prize bag of Rs 50,000 while runners-up Punjab Colors bagged a cash prize of Rs 25,000.

In individual awards, Hamra Latif of WAPDA got the best player award while best goalkeeper of the tournament was Tahira Islam from Punjab.
