Lahore: Mohammad Waqas (124*) guided Central Punjab (CP) to 315-6 against Southern Punjab (SP) on Day 1 of first round in the National U19 Three-Day Tournament.
Mohammad Huraira was the other prominent batter from CP who scored 98 runs off 127 balls with the help of 16 boundaries. Waqar struck 21 boundaries during his stay at the crease while he will resume the inning for CP tomorrow alongside Arham Nawab (18*).
Awais Abbas and Mohammad Shahzad bagged two wickets each for SP.
In another match at Country Club, Mubasir Khan’s all-round performance let Northern dominate over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). Mubasir and Adil Niaz bagged three wickets each to help Northern bowl out KPK for 113 in 33.4 overs.
Nasir Faraz scored the highest 58 runs from KPK. In reply, Mubasir (58*) and skipper Raza Al-Mustafa (29*) propelled Northern to 111-4.
At LLCA, Ghazir Ghori (54*) brought Sindh to 160-4 in reply to Baluchistan’s 161-10. While batting first, Baluchistan posted 161-10 with skipper Ibrahim Senior scoring the highest 50 runs.
Alyan Mehmood bagged four wickets for Sindh while Adeel Mio and Asim Ali took three wickets each.
In reply, Sindh closed Day 1 at 160-4 with Ghazi (50*) and Adeel (19*) at the crease. Kabir Raj of Baluchistan took two wickets on an opening day.
