Speaking on the Howie Games podcast, the wicket-keeper batsman revealed, “I think I’ve faced Wasim Akram only a few times (but he was) immensely difficult.”

He highlighted that Wasim Akram is not among the highest Test wicket-takers, but still he has tested the best batsmen of the world.

“It’s strange you know, when you pick your bowlers or the people think, if you take Akram on the Test wicket tally, he’s nowhere near the top.

“He’s 12th, but you ask any batsman around the world and his name always comes up.

“He was an absolute genius,” he added.

Sangakkara, who has an average of 41.98 in ODI cricket, averages only 11.75 in the games in which Wasim Akram played.
